### 2020-11-25 got approval to work from home for all of december, so I've only got a day and a half left to work from the office this year. there's been so much upsetting covid-related stuff going on in the last week that it's been really hard to concentrate on anything... that's kinda why I've missed out on most of the discussion surrounding how gemini pages should be interpreted as feeds, and haven't really had the mental bandwidth to read the whole new spec and/or update the gemlog so it behaves correctly. I want to get to it soon though! my youngest cousin, who is in elementary school, started texting me last week. she's become captivated by manga and wants to know what going to japan and speaking the language is like. when I told her I could speak japanese, she asked me what words I knew... and I had to explain that no, I *actually* speak the language. I've been going through the photo albums for my previous trips, taking out anything inappropriate or only relevant to me, and sending her a different photo album each day she talks to me. I think she found the diver city gundam pretty damn cool (who doesn't) inspired by joshua stein's C programming on system 6 video series, I started writing a little application for old Macs in C that will eventually batch apply file types and creator codes to files based on their file extensions. I've never written anything in pure C before, the closest I've come was some C++ (enough to know that I hate it) and years of Objective-C (enough to know that it will probably always be my favorite programming language), so it's real interesting to finally get to experience development in pure C. not gonna lie, it's pretty great so far. the old mac filesystem APIs on the other hand...
